Today's Action Photo

Today's Action Photo is a picture of an armored participant of the Texas Renaissance Festival preparing for combat with a mighty two-handed sword! This is a very special Action Photo, since it is the first taken with my new digital camera, the Canon EOS D30! I'm very pleased with the quality it is capable of, now I need to practice my technique in both picture taking and processing to get the most out of it. This camera saves ALL camera settings, making it a great educational tool and sparing me the work of writing them down and typing them all in, that's what all the info is at the lower right.

December 14, 2001 update: I've just been informed by the judges of the 2001 Texas Renaissance Festival photo contest that this picture has been selected as the second prize winner! The judges call this a shot of an "armored landsknecht", which apparently is a type of medieval-era German knight. The prize itself, which I have just received, is a Fuji Finepix 2300 digital camera.
