The BAT Cave

Photos of Old

Huh? What?

Today's Action Photo

Today's Action Photo is a picture of the Old Railroad Tunnel Wildlife Management Area on Old Highway 9 near Fredericksburg, Texas. This is looking straight into the tunnel itself, and the other side is visible as kind of a green trapezoid in the low center of the photo. A colony of several million bats now lives in the abandoned tunnel, and they put on quite a show as they fly out! Photo taken with a Canon Elan IIe camera on a Manfrotto Wilderness Tripod, 70-200mm f/2.8L lens, Fuji Superia Reala 100 film. Exposure settings were 1 1/2 seconds at f11, with +1/2 stop of exposure compensation.
